LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) -

Road repairs and construction is set to begin in a busy part of LaPlace tomorrow, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Crews are set to begin road construction on LA 3224 (Hemlock St.), between Airline Highway and the KCS Railroad (closest to Airline).

The work will build subsurface drainage and additional turn lanes.

The construction is designed to help alleviate congestion and traffic in the area.

Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., beginning Wednesday, June 29th.

This work is expected to continue through August.

Motorists can use LA 44 (Main St.) as an alternate route to avoid the construction.
