NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The American, POW and Louisiana flags will be raised over the new Veterans medical center on South Galvez Street on July 4th.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. with WWII Navy Veteran Joe Loyacano raising the American, POW and state flags over the center.
"On the same day our country celebrates 240 years of independence we will honor the American flag and our Veterans," said Fernando O Rivera, medical center director said in a prepared statement.
Rivera will serve as the Master of Ceremonies with Maj. Gen. Glenn H. Curtis, Louisiana National Guard adjutant general, as the guest speaker
There will be a presentation of the colors by a military color guard of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. There will also be a 21-gun salute and music by the American Legion Post 175 band.
Following the ceremony, employees and volunteers will be offering tours of the medical center's inpatient and outpatient towers.
