BOGALUSA, LA (WVUE) -

A Mississippi woman was arrested for burglary in Washington Parish, according to authorities there.

On June 23, Shelby Leigh Ann Nowell, 23, of Poplarville, Miss. was arrested by Washington Parish detectives in connection with the burglary of a business located on Highway 10 East in Bogalusa.

Video provided by the business owner showed a man and woman breaking in to a vehicle parked in front of the business.

They then use a tool stolen from the car to break out a glass panel on the front of the business.

Once inside the business, the couple stole merchandise, cash and the cash register worth more than $5,000.

Surveillance video shown to the public confirmed Nowell as the woman involved in the burglary.

With assistance from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Parish detectives were able to recover the cash register and locate and arrest Nowell in Mississippi.

After being confronted with the video evidence, Nowell confessed. The search continues and the male suspect in the crime is expected to be identified and arrested.
