Two double shootings in Terrebonne Parish leave two dead, two injured

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Two double shootings in Terrebonne Parish claimed the lives of two men and sent two others to the hospital Wednesday.

William Alexander and his girlfriend narrowly escaped being shot when bullets came through their bedroom.

"I'm just happy to be alive really, and blessed or lucky or whatever you want to call it. I'm still walking, the bullet holes were about a foot above our mattress," Alexander said. "I just happen to come outside and see somebody dead in my driveway."

That shooting happened in the 3600 block of Thomas Drive around 3:15 a.m.. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office said deputies found John Darjean,23, in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was also shot, but he was treated at the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Just 20 minutes later, Houma Police responded to the 400 block of East Street after a car crashed into a fence. Responding officers discovered two men inside the car had been shot. Investigators said the passenger, Troy Derouche, 29, died. The driver was taken to the hospital.

Now, both agencies are investigating whether the murders are related.

"I think we are getting close to finding out what we need to know, but guys are working around the clock and hopefully we'll have more answers soon," said Maj. Malcolm Wolfe with the TPSO.

As for Alexander, he said he plans on moving after what happened.

"I just so happen to have a house in the wrong spot, that's it," he said.
