NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans firefighters rescued a utility worker who got stuck six feet below ground.
It happened Wednesday at 12:44 p.m. at the corner of South Claiborne Avenue and Canal Street.
The NOFD says because of the nature of the call, four additional units trained in 'Confined Space Rescues' were sent to the scene.
Firefighters were able to free the worker who was trapped between an in-ground valve and its concrete casing. They say the victim was conscious and complained of severe back pain. He was taken to the hospital.
No one else was injured.
