NOPD searching for stolen ATV stolen during armed robbery

New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in finding an all-terrain vehicle used in a Sunday armed robbery.

Around 8 p.m. on June 26, the victim told police he was riding his ATV on North Claiborne Avenue and stopped for a red light at St. Roch Avenue.

A silver four-door sedan occupied by two suspects, described as black males, pulled up alongside him and was asked by the passenger if he would trade his ATV for their car.

The victim said he did not want to trade, and the passenger got out of the car and approached the victim.

The suspect pulled a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and showed the weapon to the victim.

Fearing for his life, the he gave up the ATV and the suspect got on the vehicle and fled northbound on St. Roch Avenue.

The gunman is described as a black male with a brown complexion, approximately 19-22 years old, six feet tall with a slim build.

He is clean shaven, has short black hair and was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

The driver of the vehicle is also described as a black male with a brown complexion, 19-22 years old with a slim build.

The missing ATV is a black 2013 Yamaha YFZ with multiple stickers on the frame and a missing tail light.
