RUDDOCK, LA - A Louisiana State Trooper was injured Friday afternoon while assisting a disabled vehicle on I-55.
The accident happened around 12 p.m. near mile post 11 in Ruddock.
The trooper was stopped on the shoulder of the interstate assisting a broken down motorist. As the trooper was walking along the shoulder, a truck struck the rear of the Trooper's unit, causing the unit to strike the trooper.
The trooper's condition wasn't immediately known, but a post on the La. State Police Facebook page said "thoughts and prayers needed."
She was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans.
Traffic is being diverted at mile post seven.
