SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

Firefighters in St. Tammany Parish battled a fire at a church on the North Shore for the second time in a little over eight months. The latest incident occurred Saturday around 7:27 a.m. at the Bayou Baptist Church in the 1300 block of Sullivan Road in Slidell.

Fire officials say that firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the 2,500 square foot building. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes.

The building was under renovations after being damaged from an arson fire, which occurred in October 2015. Officials say that the cause of Saturday's fire is arson and that the building is a complete loss. Investigators from St. Tammany Fire District #1, along with detectives from the Slidell Police Department, the State Fire Marshal's Office and the ATF are investigating the incident. No injuries were reported.

If you have any information that could help investigators with either case, you are asked to call Detective Bertucci with the Slidell Police Department at 985-646-4347.
