THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Louisiana State Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that left a 45-year-old Virginia man dead. The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. Saturday on LA 3107 just west of Rene Drive near Thibodaux. The victim has been identified as Robert Cook of Front Royal, Virginia

Police say that Cook was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on LA 3107 when he accelerated to pass another vehicle and lost control of his truck.

Cook drove off of the road to the left before his vehicle rolled over several times.

According to police, Cook was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected.

Cook had two passengers inside his vehicle, Craig Uggen, 56, and Kriss Uggen, 20, both of Thibodaux. Police say that both of them were wearing seat belts and have minor injuries.

Investigators believe that speed and alcohol are suspected factors in this crash.
