Identity of driver killed in fiery crash may not be known for days

Fiery crash kills at least two in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It could take days for the Orleans Parish coroner to identify two bodies badly burned in a fiery fatal crash near Southern University New Orleans early Monday.

A white Chevrolet Impala, carrying three people slammed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection of Press Drive and Leon C. Simon Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. Monday and caught fire.

Two people died at the scene while a passerby managed to rescue a third victim from the back seat.

New Orleans Police say the driver was speeding and somehow lost control.

Danyell Hines has been told by police the wrecked Impala is hers.

Hines has not seen her Impala or her 20-year-old nephew Davante Hines since Sunday night. She fears one of the victims in the crash is her nephew.
