More than 300 jobs lost in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - The Louisiana Workforce Commission says two companies recently announced permanent layoffs.

The state says GE Oil & Gas plant in Pineville issued a mass layoff. Approximately 269 manufacturing, sales/service and engineering employees were told they will lose their jobs this year at the plant commonly known as GE-Dresser. The company says the move can be described as a plant closing. The workforce reduction is scheduled to begin September 2, 2016 and continue through December 2016.

The second company to issue layoffs is Blue Sky Innovations, LLC of Lafayette. The state says on June 30 the company announced it lost the bid to its only full-time client and was given 30 days to end the existing contract. 55 people will lose their jobs. All hourly employees will be permanently laid off no later than July 31, 2016 and all salaried positions will be out of a job by December 31, 2016.

Blue Sky Innovations offered professional expertise in aviation support, logistics management, and oil and gas consulting.
