Man killed in fiery crash on I-10 east at Louisa Street

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a fatal accident on I-10 east at the Louisa Street exit.

According to initial police reports, just after midnight NOPD responded to a call about an accident.

When they arrived, officers found the burned remains of a Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified man in the driver’s seat.

Initial findings show the man was exiting I-10 East at Louisa Street when his vehicle left the road, striking a bridge pillar.

The car burst in flames and was put out by New Orleans Fire Department crews that responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and conduct an official autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
