NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Harahan homeowners hope a lawsuit will put an end to operations they complain are covering their neighborhood with sand.

According to our partners at Nola.com|The Times-Picayune, nine residents have filed a lawsuit against a company called Wood Materials. They say the company's dredging operation along the river sends sand from the Mississippi River batture onto their homes. They worry the dredging and hauling work creates a health hazard and damages their property.

The company is looking to build an alternate haul road that is located farther away from the levee and nearest homes.
