(WVUE) - He's heading into his third year in New Orleans, and for Jairus Byrd, the time is now to officially validate the Saints' decision to give him a $54 million contract.
His two seasons in New Orleans have been plagued with injuries and ineffectiveness. Thus, his production hasn't come close to his price tag. He only has one interception and one fumble recover in a Saints uniform.
Byrd spent OTAs rehabbing yet again while rookie Vonn Bell and new comer Erik Harris got most of the first team reps. It's in Byrd's best interest to get healthy in a hurry. It's in the Saints best interest for him to be the player they hoped he would be when they signed him.
