NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The standoff between New Orleans police and a barricaded gunman in New Orleans East is over.

The man surrendered to authorities.

Police said the 38-year-old man was booked with possession of child pornography, video voyeurism, and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Police say the juvenile was 16.

Police are not releasing the man's name because of the sensitivity of the sexual assault case.

Police were called and a SWAT team was deployed to the 4800 block of Charmes Court at the intersection of Lourdes Street shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.

The man, was armed with an assault rifle and a handgun. He barricaded himself in the home after a domestic dispute.

One man who lives on Charmes Court said the residents of nearly 40 homes are being told not to leave their homes. The street is described as a horseshoe, allowing residents only one way in or out.

He said NOPD negotiators are trying to convince the man to surrender.
