RACELAND, LA (WVUE) -

Lafourche Parish deputies said they arrested Daniondran Gabriel, 21, of Raceland on Friday after they caught him with drugs and a stolen firearm.

Deputies said just before 1 a.m., they were patrolling on St. Phillip Street in Raceland when they saw a man, later identified as Gabriel, acting suspiciously.

Upon making contact with Gabriel, a deputy said he noticed him reaching inside him down. The deputy pulled Gabriel down for officer safety.

Upon doing so, the deputy said he discovered Gabriel had a loaded handgun with an extended magazine and suspected marijuana.

The handgun was later determined to have been stolen from a Lockport home in 2014.

Deputies said they arrested Gabriel and transported him to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was booked with illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana (second offense).

He was released Friday morning after posting a $31,500 bond.
