NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Sometimes stats can be misleading but in linebacker Danell Ellerbe's case, the stats were pretty clear in 2015. Ellerbe played in six games; the Saints were 4-2 in those games. He missed ten games; the Saints were 3-7 in those games.

Therein lies the problem with Ellerbe, when available he is a true difference-maker at weakside linebacker. It's just that he hasn't been that available all that much.

Ellerbe seemed to understand this as well as anyone. He took a pay cut to remain in New Orleans this offseason. Hopefully, with a clean bill of health, Ellerbe can be an impact player once again but for the entire 2016 season. The Saints' defense could certainly use his services.
