Black lives matter protesters rally at Audubon Zoo

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - On a hot Saturday afternoon young people gathered at a rally near Audubon Zoo.

"For all the hardships and everything we go through in life you just got to pray and you got to have faith... and you gotta keep that love within you", says event organizer Kai Barre.

Concerned over a violent week Barre, took to social media to organize a forum and a peaceful march.

Barre says, "I think it's a great thing to take time off and just try to understand what's really going on and how we got to get together and you know, and get get this stuff to stop."

Those who took the microphone urged each other to get involved.

"It doesn't mean that you have to be in some particular role or position to belong in some form of organization to make a difference. you don't have to wait for permission or for somebody to bless you --to say yes go ahead- do something positive" says activist Angela Kimlove

event speaker James Thomas says"When you look into our city you're not gonna find hatred you're not gonna find aggravation and anger".

With a powerful word and a powerful vision Thomas says "I want you to say love. i said i want you to say love....when they looking to new orleans i want them to see love".
