Man with assault rifle robs Algiers gas station

ALGIERS, LA (WVUE) - A man walked into an Algiers Shell gas station with an assault rifle and robbed the register.

According to initial police reports, the incident occurred at midnight in the 4600 block of General de Gaulle Boulevard.

A suspect, described as a black man with a light complexion armed with an assault rifle, entered the store and told the cashier to get down on the floor.

The suspect then stole cash from the register and fled the scene.

In another incident, in the 2200 block of Lapeyrouse Street, a man forced his way into his ex-wife's home, hitting the 32-year-old with his fist and a belt.

He then dragged her down a staircase, took her car keys and fled the scene.

An arrest warrant will be filed against James Jones, 32, in connection with the incident.
