Orleans coroner identifies victim in North Miro Street homicide

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Orleans Parish coroner Jeffrey Rouse has identified the victim in a homicide from July 6.

Matthew Spooner, 35, was shot and killed in the 2100 block of North Miro Street. Police received the call at 1:12 a.m.

Officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. When they arrived, they found Spooner suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remains under investigation.
