METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

On July 29 the Zephyrs will break out nutria jerseys for their contest with the Iowa Cubs.

Nutrias are brown-furred, plant-eating mammals that first made their home in Louisiana in the 1930s. The Zephyrs have utilized the nutria as the team’s mascots, Boudreaux and Clotile, since 1998.

The Zephyrs jerseys will display a nutria’s face across the chest and the nutria’s brown fur across the back with dark blue sleeve panels. Fans can bid to win these unique jerseys during an in-game auction with proceeds benefiting Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
