NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Three inmates at the Orleans Justice Center face charges after an altercation that injured another inmate.
According to a news release from the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, inmate Marvin Evans, 18, took an improvised weapon from his waistband and used it to hit the victim in his head and torso.
According to investigators, another inmate, Dorion Jefferson took the weapon away from Evans, hid it under his uniform and then slipped it under a cell door.
When deputies entered that cell, they say they found Leonard Robinson, 31, trying to flush the weapon down the toilet.
Deputies recovered the weapon.
They say the injured inmate was treated for a laceration to his scalp.
Deputies booked Evans with aggravated second degree battery, carrying of a concealed weapon by a felon and possession of contraband inside the Orleans Justice Center.
Dorion Jefferson and Leonard Robinson face new charges of possession of contraband and obstruction of justice.
