CHACKBAY, LA (WVUE) - Lafourche Parish deputies booked a man on his fifth DWI offense after a traffic stop in Chackbay early Saturday morning.
Officers pulled over Billy Vaughn, 57, of Thibodaux, around 1:15 a.m. while he was traveling on Hwy. 304 near School Ln. in Chackbay.
Investigators said he was showing signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol before driving.
Vaughn submitted to a field sobriety test on which he performed poorly. He later refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. Deputies obtained a warrant for a blood test, and his blood sample was sent to the state police crime lab to be tested.
Vaughn was charged with his fifth DWI, unlawful refusal to submit to chemical tests, and improper lane usage. His bond is set at $77,200.
He is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole because of a parole violation.
