NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - It's been a really tough year for former Pelicans Head Coach Monty Williams after he lost his wife, Ingrid, to a car crash in February.
It also came as no surprise that Williams decided not to return to the bench in Oklahoma City.
But, the coaching bug hasn't left him entirely. Williams will be on the court with Team USA at the Summer Olympics, coaching the best talent in the NBA.
Williams returned to his role of assistant coach with team USA, alongside Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim and the Timerwolves' Tom Thibodeau. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski is the head coach of the team.
Williams has some familiarity with the team since it includes former Thunder forward Kevin Durant. Team USA is in pre-olympics mode. They'll take on Argentina on Friday.
