ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A Morgan City man was arrested Friday night in Assumption Parish after a traffic stop turned up drugs.
David W. Mire, 40, of the 100 block of Velma Street was charged with several drug-related offenses.
According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's officer, a uniform patrol on LA. 662 in Bayou L'Ourse area, pulled over a pick-up truck with altered head lights and tail lights.
When the deputy turned on his emergency lights, he noticed the driver throwing things out of the driver's side window. The driver then stopped and got out.
Another arrived and searched the area, He found a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine and a syringe needle.
A K-9 unit called to the scene also found a "white rock like substance" on the seat next to where Mire was seated.
Mire was arrested and transported to the parish jail where he was charged with.
He is charged with the following:
- Improper Display of Head Lights and Tail Lights
- Obstruction of Justice
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 3rd Offense Felony
- Possession of Schedule II Narcotics
