Shiver Shack Snowball Stand owner accused of trading drugs and cash for sex with girls

MANDEVILLE, LA (WVUE) -

Mandeville police arrested a snowball stand owner and booked him with several charges related to inappropriate sexual behavior with some of his juvenile employees.

Anthony Barton Fortune, 56, and owner of Shiver Shack Snowball Stand, is accused of trading cash and drugs for sexual favors from four female juvenile employees.

He was taken into custody on Thursday.

Shiver Shack is located across from the Mandeville Trailhead in the 2000 block of Woodrow St. in Old Mandeville.

Police said their investigation began two weeks ago when they received information about the alleged acts. The incidents took place in Fortune’s apartment that is attached to the business.

Investigators served a search warrant of the apartment and discovered evidence connected to the case, but they would not comment on what items were seized.

Fortune is charged with keeping a disorderly place, three counts of obstruction, four counts of possession of a Schedule I narcotic, four counts of possession of schedule narcotic in the presence of juveniles, 11 counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, 48 counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, two counts of sexual battery and four counts of child trafficking for sexual purposes.

It is unclear if bond has been set in the case.
