NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - There will be a better chance for storms over the next couple of days as a piece of energy rotates around the high pressure system that has kept us so hot this week.
Some of these storms could be strong, producing heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning. Highs will top out lower than yesterday thanks to the rain around, but we are still expecting to reach the mid 90s.
Saturday, we return to just spotty storms with highs in the mid 90s again. More scattered storms are expected on Sunday.
By the middle of next week, a tropical disturbance is projected to move into our area from the Florida Panhandle. If the system holds together it will bring better rain chances and temperatures will return to more seasonable levels in the lower 90s.
Overall the Atlantic tropics remain quiet with no development expected in the next five days.
