Mid-city residents warned of loud construction in the area

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The City of New Orleans Health Department issued a notice of noise variance to New Orleans residents and businesses in Mid-City.

A construction company will conduct work that exceeds ambient noise levels between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2 for the new Ochsner First Choice Emergency Room at 4100 Canal St.

Residents are advised to be patient and expect to hear construction-related noises outside of the normal hours outlined in the city's noise ordinance.

Businesses or individuals without a proper permit are prohibited from exceeding ambient noise levels outside of the hours of 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. on weekends.

The Health Department is the City agency responsible for enforcing the noise ordinance, issuing noise variance permits and facilitating communication between the contractor and the local community.

Residents are encouraged to contact Mapp Construction, LLC with questions or concerns at (504) 377-6553.
