Houma deputy rescues baby from locked vehicle

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A  Terrebonne Parish deputy came to the rescue of 4-month old baby Friday after the tot was accidentally locked inside a vehicle

The officer responded to a 911 call of a child being locked inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Southland Mall in Houma.

The responding deputy received information that the baby had been crying and then stopped crying.  Lt. Douglas Chauvin Jr. arrived on scene and assured the mother that her baby would rescued.

After only being on scene for approximately one minute Lt. Chauvin was able to use an unlocking device to open the door and save the child. The child was removed from the vehicle and brought inside of the mall to get relief from the heat.

Police say the baby was locked inside of the vehicle by accident. The child was rescued and brought to safety without incident.
