New Orleans man drowns while fishing in St. Bernard Parish

ST. BERNARD PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A New Orleans man drowned Sunday morning while fishing in St. Bernard Parish. The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. just East of the flood wall in the Mississippi River - Gulf Outlet. The victim has been identified as 64-year-old David LeBlanc Jr. 

Police say that LeBlanc fell into the water from a platform, while apparently trying to tie the boat he was in.

Crews recovered LeBlanc's body and transported him to St. Bernard Parish hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. 

According to police, neither LeBlanc, nor the man he was fishing with were wearing personal flotation devices.
