Death of man found in Venice waterway determined to be a homicide

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A man whose body was found Aug. 3 in a Venice waterway was the victim of a homicide, according to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office.

The man's identity and the circumstances of where and how the crime occurred are still unknown. The coroner did not specify a cause of death.

Sheriff Gerald Turlich said his office received a call around 7:15 a.m. of a possible body floating in Pass Tante Phine/Sugar Lake Bayou, which is a waterway near the 390 block of IDF Road.

Investigators said the man was Asian, about 5'4" and 110 pounds. He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt with a spider logo.

Anyone with information on the identity of the body or the circumstances of the death is asked to contact the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office at 504-564-2525 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. A $2,500 cash reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest.
