NOPD officer takes fire during traffic stop

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is investigating an incident where a suspect fired a weapon at an officer at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Elysian Fields.

A little after 6 p.m., an NOPD officer was conducting a traffic stop in the area when the driver of a two-door silver or gray Acura fired a single shot at the officer and drove away. The officer was not injured and did not fire his weapon during the incident.

Suspect and additional vehicle descriptions were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
