NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Someone attacked the new Pikachu Monument at Terpischore and Prytania. A witness posted video to Instagram on Monday night.
The video is hard to see in the dark, but someone wielding what looks like a bat attacked the Pokemon character, possibly taking out frustrations of not catching them all.
In the light of day, Pikachu is no worse for the wear. There's a hairline fracture near its tail, but it's still standing upright for visitors to enjoy.
No one knows who installed the statue, but the monument sits at the old Margaret William Fountain site.
It is becoming a popular place for Pokemon go fans to congregate.
