NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Brady and Brees top 5 QBs, and what The Greenbrier offers the Saints
It's August in the NFL, which means all 32 teams think they have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, it also brings out "so-called" NFL analyst that deliver "hot takes" with no regular season games in sight.
The latest "take" making the national rounds comes from former NFL quarterback Chris Simms. He claims Tom Brady at age 39 isn't one of the top five quarterbacks in the league right now!?
I find this totally ludicrous. Not only is Brady one of the top five in the league, I think he's number one. The Saints defense will agree with me in two days time when they practice against the Patriots.
My top five quarterbacks in the NFL: 1) Brady, 2) Cam Newton, 3) Aaron Rodgers, 4) Andrew Luck, 5) Drew Brees. Russell Wilson is right behind Brees on my list.
Last season Leicester City dropped an English Premier League shocker winning the title. The Foxes started the campaign as 5,000-1 odds to win at all.
In the 2016-17 EPL season, I think a big-name club will raise the trophy. You might've heard of them, 20-time champ Manchester United.
The summer transfer market was very kind to the Red Devils. Notching Paul Pogba for over 100 million pounds, and enigmatic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovich were huge signings. Ibrahimovich scored with seven minutes remaining in Sunday's FA Community Shield, it's a showcase preseason opener in England, giving his new squad a 2-1 triumph over the defending champs.
Of course, coaching always plays a major role in the race for the crown. The Red Devils signed one of the best in the world, Jose Mourinho. With Mourinho at the controls, and a fresh roster, there's no stopping Man U when the season kicks off August 13th.
The Saints three-year contract with The Greenbrier ends after they leave in a little over a week. No new deal seems imminent. The Greenbrier Owner Jim Justice wants the Black and Gold back, but also told Fox 8 Sports five other teams could replace the Saints in the future.
The weather is fantastic in White Sulphur Springs, and the resort is second to none. The restaurants on the grounds are some of my favorites in the area. One of the best is Prime 44 West.
Named after NBA legend Jerry West, a native of West Virginia, the steakhouse has numerous mouth-watering options. The cornbread is a fantastic start to the meal. I always go with the New York strip as my main course. Boursin mashed potatoes complement the steak perfectly. For dessert, you can't go wrong with bananas foster.
I don't think for a second high-end dining, and a fancy resort makes the Saints soft. Yes, the Saints are 7-9 both seasons they've started in West Virginia, but there's no substitute for three-hour practices in mid-70's temperatures.
