LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office detectives identified two suspects in connection with the Aug. 5 murder of 16-year-old Tory Horton.
Detectives arrested Bruce Butler Jr., 22, of LaPlace Friday night and identified Frederick Seymore Jr., 22, of LaPlace as the second suspect wanted in connection with the homicide.
The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. at LaPlace Discount located at the corner of Airline Highway and Cambridge Drive in LaPlace. Horton had gone to the store to purchase candy while waiting for a haircut nearby.
Police say the perpetrators fled the scene in a red 2013 Toyota Corolla with license plate ZNY406. Frederick Seymour Jr. remains at large.
The red Toyota Corolla's passenger side mirror was hanging, and prior to the Friday's incident, the car had a bullet hole in the lower section of the
right rear fender.
Detectives arrested Bruce Butler Jr. Friday, August 5, and booked him with principal to 2nd degree murder. He remains in custody in lieu of a
Frederick Seymore Jr. remains at large. He is wanted for second degree murder.
Monday would have been Horton's first day as a sophomore at East. St. John High School. A spokesperson for St. John Parish Schools released a statement saying," We were saddened to start the school year today with an empty desk where Tory Horton should have been sitting. To lose someone so young in such a way is truly tragic and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they attempt to deal with his loss."
