NOPD: Shoplifting suspect lunges at guard with needle

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is asking for the public's help in locating and identifying an man they said is responsible for shoplifting and aggravated assault in Gert Town.

On July 25 at about 11:40 a.m., a black male walked into the CVS pharmacy store in the 3700 block of South Carrollton Avenue. Store security caught the man stealing deodorant. When a guard approached the suspect, he returned the stolen items. When NOPD officers arrived, they learned that the guard had tried to place the man in another area for holding, but he produced a syringe and lunged at the guard. He then fled the store on a silver bicycle.

The subject appears to be in his mid- to late thirties. He was seen wearing a grey shirt and black jeans.
