METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office appears to be expanding its crackdown on under-age drinking.

The parish council today is voting on sanctions against more than 60 bars, restaurants, and even a hotel caught serving or selling to minors.

The establishments will not be able to sell alcohol for one week next month after the big undercover sting.

An underage and undercover JPSO officer went into restaurants and bars and busted servers across the parish.

They include some east bank locations of everything from Circle K stores and Taqueria Corona to Albasha and Chateau du lac restaurant in Metairie. Zea’s, R&O’s, Applebees, Chili’s and Hooters were also caught in the dragnet.

Most of the locations are in Council District 5.

"I was blown away,” said restaurant owner Paige Saleun. “We had a new bartender and he didn’t ask. He was brand new.”

Sheriff Newell Normand said the department “developed a strategy where we looked at restaurants and we went in with undercover agents.”
