(WVUE) - A flash flood watch is in effect for Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast until Saturday morning. Showers and storms will continue to increase across the region into Thursday. Waves of rain with torrential downpours at times may cause flooding problems.
The area of low pressure responsible for the heavy rain will only move slowly west and northwest across the area over the next 48 hours. By Saturday it should be far enough away and weaker to slowly drop the storm chances somewhat.
Looking ahead to Sunday and early next week it appears that a more typical August pattern of scattered storms with steamy sun will return.
The tropics are quiet and development is not expected over the next 5 days.
