NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A flood watch is in effect for Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast until Saturday morning.
Periods of showers and storms will continue to affect the area for the next 36 hours. The rain will be heavy to torrential at times. Additional rainfall amounts of 5" to 10" in some locations will be possible.
The area of low pressure causing all of the wet weather will slowly exit the area Saturday into Sunday.
Looking ahead to next week it appears that a more typical August pattern of scattered storms with steamy sun will return.
The tropics are quiet and development is not expected over the next five days.
