LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Rising water from heavy rain forced the Livingston Parish 911 and Communications Center.
The center is where dispatchers take and route calls.
Deputies have been handling an extremely high call volume and fought to keep floodwaters at bay, but they proved to be too much.
The sheriff moved operations to the Parish Emergency Operations Center at the governmental building.
No interruption in service is expected, the sheriff said.
Rescue operations continued Saturday morning.
"I'm proud of my deputies who always give me their all, no matter what we face," Ard said. "Our main goal is no loss of life."
He said the parish is taking this event one day at a time.
Anyone that needs help should call 225-686-3996.
