NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Due to flood water covering portions of the roadway, officials with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development have closed a large stretch of Interstate 12. The closure, announced Saturday at 4:23 p.m., is from Airline Highway in East Baton Rouge Parish to Highway 190 in St. Tammany Parish. Traffic heading west on I-12, approaching Hwy 190 will be diverted onto Hwy 190 south to the Causeway Bridge. Tolls have also been temporarily suspended, according to the DOTD.
The following are alternate routes provided by the DOTD:
• I-12 westbound should take I-59 north to I-20
• I-12 eastbound should take US 61 south to I-10 east
