TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Due to flooding conditions in Tangipahoa Parish, Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Mark Kolwe announced Sunday that all schools and registration centers in the Tangipahoa Parish School System will be closed from Monday August 15, 2016 through Friday August 19th, 2016.
According to Kolwe, Amite Westside Middle Magnet School, Hammond High Magnet School and Nesom Middle School in Tickfaw, suffered significant damage as a result of flooding. He adds that contractors are set to begin repairs on the schools this week. Kolwe also says that Ponchatoula High School suffered minimal damage from flooding.
School board officials say that all 12-month employees should report to work and if they are unable to, they are asked to notify their immediate supervisor.
Tangipahoa public schools are set to resume on Monday August 22, 2016.
