(WVUE) - Northshore rivers have crested with the exception of the Pearl River. However, the Pearl is not expected to cause problems. A flood warning is in effect for St James Parish due to the potential for backwater flooding over the next couple of days.
The threat for widespread heavy rains is over. However, there will be enough moisture around for above normal storm coverage for Monday into Tuesday. Some of the storms could drop brief heavy downpours.
By Wednesday, drier air will move in and rain chances will drop to normal levels for August, around 30 to 40 percent.
It will also get hotter with highs rebounding into the lower and middle 90s.
Storm chances may increase again by the end of next weekend.
In the tropics, a disturbance off Africa in the far Eastern Atlantic currently has a low chance for development.
