Flood warning issued for northern LaPlace

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The National Weather Service has reissued a flood warning for areas closer to New Orleans including northern LaPlace in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The water levels are unprecedented and continuing to rise creating the possibility for this area to see some flooding.

The flood warning includes:

  • Livingston Parish
  • West Baton Rouge Parish
  • Northern St. James Parish
  • Northern St. John the Baptist Parish
  • Pointe Coupee Parish
  • Iberville Parish
  • East Baton Rouge Parish
  • Ascension Parish

The warning is scheduled to last until 3 p.m.

At 11:56 a.m. emergency management officials reported extensive  flooding across much of the warned area.

The following locations are already experiencing or are expected to experience flooding:

  • Baton Rouge
  • Zachary
  • Baker
  • Denham Springs
  • Gonzales
  • Donaldsonville
  • Plaquemine
  • Port Allen
  • New Roads
  • Krotz Springs
  • Melville
  • Oak Hills Place
  • far northern portions of Reserve
  • Far northern portions of LaPlace
  • St. Gabriel
  • Walker
  • Gramercy
  • Addis
  • Lutcher
  • Brusly
