NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish coroner says a man who was pulled from Lake Pontchartrain on July 27 was severely beaten before he drowned.
Coroner Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich said Tuesday that he reviewed the case with three pathologists and declared the death of 59-year-old Dale W. Crage a homicide. The Metairie resident had blunt force trauma to the face, head and ribs.
Crage's body was found near the Bonnabel boat launch. It was spotted by children who were walking along the rock jetty.
The coroner said someone used heavy duty wire to tie a 12-pound boat propeller to Crage's body.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating.
