Lafreniere Park hosts flood drive

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

People wanting to help victims of devastating floods in southern Louisiana can drop off donations on Thursday at Lafreniere Park in Metairie.  The Patrons of Lafreniere Park is hosting the flood relief drive from 2 - 8 pm at the parking lot next to the Al Copeland Meadow Stage.  The address is 3000 Downs Blvd.   Assisting in the effort is District 4 Councilman Ben Zahn, District 5 Councilwoman Jennifer VanVrancken, District 2 Councilman Paul Johnston, District 3 Councilman Mark Spears, Council Chairwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng, Parish President Mike Yenni, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Kenner Police Department.

Organizers are looking for clothing, toiletries, household cleaning supplies and sealed, non-perishable food and drinks.  It is requested that all clothing items be clean and bagged. All non-perishable food/drink items, cleaning supplies, and toiletries should be sealed and bagged for ease of transport.
