Gun thefts land pair in Assumption Parish jail

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A man and a woman were booked for stealing guns and lawn equipment in Assumption Parish.

Kaycee Blanchard, 34, of Belle Rose and Michael E. Chauff, 33, of Donaldsonville were arrested were charged Thursday with burglaries in Paincourtville and Belle Rose.

In the first case, two guns were stolen from a vehicle in Belle Rose and lawn equipment was taken from a home.

On July 31, several guns were stolen during a burglary at a Paincourtville home.

Blanchard and Chauff were then identified as suspects.

Chauff was booked on charges of:

  • Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
  • Simple Burglary
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Theft Valued Under $750

Chauff was already in jail on unrelated charges.

Blanchard was booked on charges of:

  • Simple Burglary
  • Accessory to Simple Burglary
  • Theft Valued Under $750

Both remain behind bars waiting for bond hearings.
