DOTD begins debris removal service

BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

Louisiana Department of Transportation prepares to remove debris in Livingston and Tangipahoa parishes.

The service will begin on Monday, August 22. Services will kick off in East Feliciana, West Feliciana, East Baton Rouge, Ascension and St. James parishes on Tuesday, August 23.

Development Secretary Shawn D. Wilson and other state officials push for the removal service is to ensure the safety and health of residents.

Debris clearing will be expanded to other parishes at a later date.

Assessment crews will be traveling to the affected parishes to monitor damage. More than 60,000 residents homes were lost to flood damage.
