HOUSTON, TX (WVUE) -

Showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast through the evening for the Houston area with several upper level troughs creating plenty of uplift.

With lots of moisture around, storms will be efficient rain makers with some producing as much as 1 to 3 inches of rain.

Flash Flood Watches are in effect west of the Houston metro area.

Most rain will fall late evening into the overnight hours.

New Orleans Saints' fans may have to deal with rain after Saturday night's preseason match up with the Houston Texans.

The NRG Stadium will close its retractable roof for the duration of the game to avoid rainfall.

Rain will linger into the day Sunday and may make travel conditions difficult. Pay attention to local advisories.
