NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The man who goes by the nickname "Butter", wanted for a bank robbery, carjacking and possibly other crimes in New Orleans has finally been captured. The FBI says Dwayne Anthony Winans was picked up Tuesday night at the Jacksonville Greyhound Bus Station.

Winans was was wanted for the August 8, 2016 bank robbery of the Fidelity Bank in which he was suspected of wearing female clothing and makeup.  Police say he presented a  note to the teller, demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash..  He's believed to have left the Crowder Blvd. bank and jumped into a gray 4-door Honda where a driver was waiting.

Four days later, authorities say Winans carjacked a couple in the 2nd District neighborhood at approximately 11:45 p.m. The FBI says Winans approached the couple as they exited their 2012 Toyota Silver Camry and demanded the keys to the vehicle. At the time, witnesses described the suspect as a light-complexioned black male with freckles on his face and a large tattoo on his neck.

Winan's arrest in Florida was a joint coordinated law enforcement effort between the FBI New Orleans’ Violent Crime Task Force, the FBI Jacksonville Division, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the New Orleans Police Department.

In addition to the bank robbery and carjacking, Dwayne Winans has also been identified by the NOPD as a person of interest for a number of robberies throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan area.
